HASTINGS.

Dear Bee, — October 20th. The HAWKE’S BAY AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SHOW was held at Hastings on Friday and Saturday, October 14th and 15th, and as both days were bright and warm there were an unusually large number of people present from both town and country. Amongst them were: — Miss Ormond, in a navy blue coat and skirt, white blouse and sailor hat; Mrs Coleman, in black relieved with white, and a bonnet to match; Miss Williams, in black and pale blue and a black hat; Miss Lascelles, in blue and white flowered muslin and a black hat with pink roses; and her sister wore white muslin, a pretty green sash, and a white hat with white feathers; Miss Hidings wore pink and a white sailor hat; Mrs R. Smith, a green tailor-made coat and skirt and a white hat; Mrs Lines, a brown coat and skirt, a light blouse and white hat; Miss Begg, a black dress with a canary-coloured waistcoat covered with black guipure lace; Miss Balfour, a pretty lemon-coloured dress, yellow sash and a hat to match; Miss Tiffin, a black dress and a black hat trimmed with blue flowers; Miss Nairn, a pink coat and

skirt; and her sister green. Some others present were:—Mrs McLean, Mrs Fitzroy, Miss Fitzroy, Mrs Lowry. Mrs J. N. Williams, Miss Wilson, Miss Williams, Mrs Waterhouse, Mrs Fraser, Miss Tanner, Miss Braithwaite, Miss Shaw, Miss Peacock, Messrs Fraser, Donnelly, Coleman, McLean, Watt, Fitzroy, T. H. Lowry, Carlyon, Giblin, Gore, Bennett, Peacock, Kettle, Morris, White, Ormond, Tanner, Campbell, etc. Yesterday afternoon there were a great many people present at the Hastings Bowling Green, and an interesting game was played between the Hastings bowlers and some who had come out from Napier. The victory fell to the former, who won by a good many points. Amongst the players were:—Messrs Fielder, Clark, Miller, Smith, Haszard, Maddison, Dean, Bristy, Shirley, '1 homson, Large, Beaston, etc. The afternoon tea, which was provided by Mrs Beatson, was much enjoyed.
