GOLF TOURNAMENT. which finished on Saturday, beautiful weather, with the exception of one nor’-wester, the whole time, but we generally like our visitors to have a taste for fear they should think we exaggerate our woes. The Championship was a hard-fought fight, and is now—l was about to say the ‘pride’ of Wellington, but as Mr Pryde won it that would seem too horrid. The ladies’ tournament is the next golfing excitement, but comes off in Dunedin. Mrs Vernon and Miss Cowlishaw have already gone down there to get some practice on the links before playing; others follow this week.
