The greatest sympathy is felt for the family of Judge Rogan, of Kingsland, Auckland, whose eldest son, John, a premising, bright lad of 15, was drowned last Wednesday night. He was staying with Captain Good, at Paihama, near Wanganui, and was drowned crossing a lagoon. Judge Rogan lost his wife on June 6th last year. She died of consumption. New York is considering the plan of enforcing the law against the publishers and vendors of fake extras. The thing has become an insufferable nuisance even in the residence districts, for an army of boys are let loose in quiet streets and their bawling would wake the seven sleepers. It is needless to say that these extras never contain any important news to justify their distribution in this noisy way, and hence their sale is obtaining money under false pretences.
