The Art Gallery has special charms for our country cousins as well as children. Apropos, a dear little maiden who stood entranced before Mr Hamilton's ‘Penguins': ‘Oh, mother, do come and look al lhe birds, with their white gowns on, going down to bathe!’ and really al a little distance the procession seems to be alive and hurrying to the beach at MacQuarrie Island. With a few exceptions, in addition to the loan pictures, there is not much calling for special commendation. Of the latter, several were on at the N.Z. and South Seas Exhibition, 188990, and still form a series of delightful and instructive studies io all true lovers of art.
