DUNEDIN.

Dear Bee, February 12. What with the return of the second Sounds’ trip people and two weddings coming off Duneciin, if not very gay, is exceedingly talkative. On the evening of the 15th (the day of Miss Kate Stephenson’s wedding) Mrs Stephenson has issued a large number of invitations for a dance. On Saturday’ last Mrs W. Edmonds gave a large high tea as a farewell to her sister, Miss K. Stephenson, and Miss Hessie Driver (who is to be married on February 22nd). On Monday’ afternoon Miss Reynolds gave a small afternoon tea for the passengers of the Sounds’ trip. On Wednesday Miss Gilkison gave a large and very ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON TEA for Miss Kate Stephenson. Owing to the extraordinary changeable weather that we have been having for the last fortnight the costumes were very varied—some were suitable for the hottest summer’s day, others for the depth of winter. The Misses Gilkison wore extremely pretty light prints. The table was choicely’ decorated with sweet peas. Mrs E. C. Reynolds played several items during the afternoon. Amongst the guests I noticed Mrs Denniston, in black lustre, trimmed with jet; Mrs Miehie, pale cigar-coloured jacket and skirt, pink vest, bonnet to match; Mrs Laidlaw, dark green costume, fawn checked waistcoat: Mrs Woodhouse, white figured dress, white sailor hat, trimmed with yellow roses; Mrs E.
