MINING MEETINGS.

The following meetings of shareholders were convened during the past week: — Barrier Reefs.—First annual meeting at Mr H. Gilfillan’s office. The directors’ report stated that the low level had been already driven 500 feet to intersect, the reef originally worked from which the valuable ore now on hand was obtained. The shaft had also been sunk to the required depth and a crosscut started to intersect the reef. The connections between this ]>oint and that of the reef at the low level will be pushed on as speedily as possible, so as to complete the opening up of this mine as far as the lode in question is concerned. Puriri.—At a special general meeting held to consider the position of this company, it was resolved to take no further steps until the protection expires in Mav next. Waihi Beach. —Shareholders in this company passed resolutions authorising the directors to sell the property during the past week. Sceptre. —The annual meeting lapsed. The balance sheet showed receipts £ 197 12s 7d, and expenditure £ 190 5s sd. leaving a credit balance of £7 7s 2d. Puru Junction. —A meeting of shareholders was held at the office .of Mr Morris to consider the position of the company. Mr John Grey presided. Several shareholders spoke in favourable terms of the property, and it was agreed that the directors should make calls for further development, as the reef must now be close at hand. Ohinemuri. —The meeting of shareholders lapsed. The balance sheet showed receipts £425 8s lOd. and the expenditure left a balance in hand of £343 6s Bd.
