MEETINGS OF SHAREHOLDERS.
The following meetings were convened this week :— Great Barrier.—The annual meeting was held at Mr George Elliot’s office. Mr Wm. D. Holgate presided. The annual report stated the property is now being worked by the Otago Syndicate, who have the option until the 28th inst. of forming a company with a capital of in 175,000 shares of £1 each. If this option is exercised vendors receive /‘io,ooo in cash, and 50,000 shares of £1 each. At the mine a great deal of valuable work has been done ; 450 feet have been driven on the reef in the upper level, and about 50 feet on the reef in the low level. For the whole of this distance the reef has maintained its quality. A great many tons of ore have been taken from this reef, and treated in New Zealand, Australia, San Francisco and England, and we are pleased to state that the returns average almost /"l2 10s per ton. At the present moment it is estimated that 200 tons of ore lie in the various paddocks awaiting treatment valued at say /"io per ton, and it is also estimated that there is over £40,000 worth of ore in sight. The balance-sheet showed among receipts cash from Otago Syndicate, /"i.ooo. The amount expended in development work, wages, mining requisites, etc., amounted to Z"i,956 ns nd. The reports were adopted. Messrs J. Mays, H. Phillipson, and J. E. Thorpe were elected directors. Queen of the North.—At a meeting of shareholders in this Coromandel syndicate it was resolved that a noliability company be formed with a capital of £3,000
divided into 60,000 shares of is each. Directors : Messrs W. S. Whitley, G. Harper, J. H. Dalton, Captain Swindley and T. W. Rhodes ; legal manager, Mr J. H. Harrison. This claim comprises an area of 52 acres, and adjoins the Royal Oak Company on the Tokatea. Doris.—The meeting of shareholders lapsed for want of a quorum. The statement of accounts showed receipts /■350 and in the mine account 14s was set down for wages and £29 19s 4d for tools and plant. The credit balance was Z 53. Mount Waihi.—At an extraordinary meeting of shareholders this week it was resolved to increase the capital of this Company to £24,000 by the creation of 60,000 shares of 4s each, such shares to be used for the acquirement of the Sir Juliua mine which adjoins the Mount Waihi.
