FOOTBALL.

Christchurch was gay with football colours this week, Saturday’s match between Wellington and Canterbury being fought on a very wet ground, owing to heavy rain the previous night, and won by the former after a very hard struggle. An immense crowd of spectators were present showing the keenest interest. Mr and Mrs Bourne gave a dance at Christ’s College for the Wanganui College team on Tuesday night, the colours of the teams being conspicuous amongst the decorations. A most enjoyable time was spent by all present. A Greymouth football team was last week in Nelson, and played a match against the Nelson Club on Wednesday, and on Saturday they played the Prince Albert Club.
