FEATHERSTON.

Dear Bee, August 16. A committee of ladies and gentlemen gave a delightful BALL in the Featherston Town Hall last Friday. The hall was artistically decorated with palms, bunting, and Chinese lanterns, the stage and.gallery being cosily arranged (or those who were not dancing. The music and floor were both very good. Extras were played by the Misses Bunny, Meredith, M. Mathews, Messrs W. Martin and H. A. Bunny. A delicious supper was very daintily set out, violets, jonquils, and maidenhair fern being the table decorations. Among the guests I noticed Mrs H. H. Beetham, who wore a very handsome black silk; Mrs Tweed was very much admired in a black velvet gown with white lace and jet trimmings; Mrs Fenwick, black silk ; Mrs N. Bee th am, red satin veiled with black spotted net ; Mrs Mathews, black silk ; Mrs Bunny, black velvet and merveilleux; Mrs Bey, black silk, lovely bouquet of violets ; Mrs Pharazyn, black silk finished with pink chiffon ; Mrs Izard, yellow silk with long rucked chiffon sleeves; Mrs Hutton looked very well in a lovely black silk ; Mrs Monckton, black relieved with white; Mrs Ewart, heliotrope silk and red poppies ; Mrs W. Wardell, a very pretty white figured silk ; Mrs Elgar, cream spotted chiffon, long rucked sleeves; Mrs Cruickshank, green silk skirt with bodice of piuk and green shot silk ; Mrs Stephenson (Auckland), black silk ; Mrs Ward, old gold silk, cream lace; Mrs Payton, black silk, white trimmings; Mrs Mace, black relieved with white chiffon ; Mrs Grace, blue and white striped silk ; Mrs Beard, red silk; Mrs Porritt, black ; Miss McKay wore a pretty yellow silk with passementerie trimming ; Miss Barton, green tinselled gauze with green ribbons to match ; Miss George (Wellington), white silk ; Miss E.
