Dear Bee, May 26. Mrs A. Mackay gave a most enjoyable EUCHRE PARTY at her residence, Bronte-street, last Friday evening. Mrs Mackay received her guests in a handsome blouse of petunia-coloured satin with green velvet trimmings and dark skirt; Mrs Roberts wore green silk blouse with heliotrope fichu, black silk skirt; Mrs P. Adams, black m-rveilleux, the bodice being trimmed with black and forget-me-not blue chiffon ; Mrs Sweet (India), pink brocade ; Mrs Burns looked handsome in a dress of pale green silk, the bodice being trimmed with the faintest shade of pink chiffon, with zouave of green velvet a darker shade than the silk ; Mrs R. Kingdon. handsome black merveilleux ; Mrs A. Glasgow ; Mrs Booth ; Miss Levien looked well in black silk, the bodice and sleeves being trimmed with black chiffon ; Miss Curtis, westeria-coloured evening dress, the bodice being covered with white chiffon ; Miss Wood, black ; Miss Heaps, heliotrope crepon trimmed with violet coloured velvet ; Miss Gibson, black silk relieved with pink ; Miss Gribben, brown velvet blouse, dark skirt; Miss L. Gribben (Hokitika), soft dove grey ; Miss Jagger, pale pink silk ; Misses Mackay, Gannaway, Campbell, etc. Amongst the gentlemen present were Messrs Mackay, P. Adams, Glasgow, R. Kingdon, Burns, Patterson, Bonsr, A. Adams, Catley, Booth, Levien, Hough, Washbourne, Dr. Roberts, and others. Mrs R. Kingdon and Mr Bonar were the fortunate winners of the first prizes. Euchre was played until the usual hour, and was followed by a most richerche supper. Last week the Mayor (Mr F. Trask) gave an ANNUAL DINNER at his residence, * Gunnersbury House,’ to the CityCouncil members and the principal Corporation officers With the characteristic hospitality of Mr and Mrs Trask the table was spread with many delicacies, to which full justice was done by the guests. A large number of toasts were proposed and responded to, between which songs were sung by the Mayor, Mr S. Trask, Messrs Nevanas, Jickell, Bannehr, Akersten, Lock, and Hanby. One of the most p’easant gatherings of the kind ever held in Nelson broke up about midnight, and the guests dispersed thanking Mr and Mrs Trask for their hospitality.
