PICTON.
Dear Bee. March 16. THE FIRE BRIGADE SOCIAL which eventuated on Friday last was not so successful as these affairs usually are, partly owing to the fact that the brigade forgot to advertise, and many people were not aware that a social was on the tapis at all. Among those present were Mrs Oxley, in black with pretty gold ribbons; Miss Divens, looking pretty in white silk and lace ; Mtss Fuller, in heliotrope with a paler shade of ribbons ; Miss Lily Fuller in pale blue looked very nice . Miss Leahy (Blenheim), dark skirt, and cream satin bodice trimmed with jet and chiffon ; Miss Carlton looked very nice in canary-coloured dress with chiffon . Miss Jeffries, in white ; Miss Fisk, in white with pale blue ribbons ; and her sister, Miss Cissy Fisk, in white with pink ribbons; Miss Bartlett, in rose pink, and her sister in dark skirt and figured blouse; Miss Dobson, in white. Others present were Mesdanies Allen. Price, Bailie. Godfrey, Fisk, Hart, Misses Scott, Howard, Thompson, Williams (two), Alexander, Lloyd, Clark, etc., etc., and Messrs Mcßeth, Fisk (two), France (two;, Wilmott, Hart, and several strangers Songs were sung by Miss Howard and Messrs Wilmott, Price, and McBeth. Mr F. Fisk made a very efficient M.C., and the music was supplied by Mrs Price. The decorations were very pretty, consisting of gege and toi toi, with the flags kindly lent by Nelson Brothers from the ' Prince of Wales’ hulk, with the fire brigade’s flag in the centre The approaches to the hall were lighted with torches, and the engine was in full view and ready for any emergency at the High-street door.
Jean.
