Dear Bee. March 20. On Wednesday afternoon Mrs Eliot Eliott (Huntly) gave a very PLEASANT AFTERNOON TEA in honour of Mrs Cutten. The table, which was most tastefully decorated with yellow areophane and flowers, was simply burdened with exquisite cakes, jellies, fruit salads, etc. During the afternoon Mrs Eliott played several times on the organ. Mrs Fenker also sang two or three times. Mrs Eliott wore a handsome black brocade, real lace fichu and cap ; Miss Eliott, black and white striped silk blouse, crepon skirt; Miss Edwards (Nelson), grey crepon, lace collarette ; Mesdames Turnbull, Mac Lean, Fitchett. Macassey, Webster, Graham, Ulrich, Carew, Jones, Neill, Dicks, Chapman, Finker, Branson, and a few others were present. On Thursday evening A EUCHRE PARTY was given by Mrs George Moodie at their residence, Heriot Row. A few I recollect present were Mesdames Moodie, G. Moodie, Leslie. Wilson, Stewart, Misses Moodie, J. Moodie, Morris, M. Morris, R msay, Hislop, Landells, MacKerras, Mrs Mac Lean. Misses M. Kempthorne, Fergus, Landells, Messrs Moodie. Morris. C. Morris, A. Morris, G. Moodie, Pace, Stewart, Mac Lean. Ramsay, J. Landells. Hislop and others. The same evening Mrs Shand (St. David-street) gave a SMALL EVENING for Miss Reid, who has been paying Dunedin a short visit. Those present were Misses Reid, Shand, L. Shand, E. Shand, MacKerras, E. Ulrich. Fitchett, D. Neill, G. Webster, Messrs Shand, Reid, Henry, Fisher, Lean, Dick, Hume, Harris and Tapley. On Friday afternoon Mrs Oliver (Maori Hill) gave a small GARDEN PARTY for Miss Aggie Reid (Elderslie), who is at present staying with her. Refreshments were served in the dining-room and on the verandah, where beautiful grapes were done ample justice to. The tea-table looked very dainty with deiicate tinted begonias in specimen glasses. The guests roamed at will over the house, which contains many and most beautiful pictures and art treasures. On the lawn archery was a source of great excitement, but very few succeeded in striking the bull's eye. Mrs Oliver was very handsomely gowned in prune silk covered with silk grenadine trimmed with black satin ribbon ; Mrs Reid (Elderslie), handsome black satin, vest and cap of real lace ; Miss Reid, sage green cashmere, shoulder cape edged with Maltese lace, large white felt hat trimmed with pink roses. Among those I remember present were Miss Rattray, in gray lustre costume, red waistcoat and hat ; MissG. Rattray, pale blue and white striped silk blouse, black skirt, white felt hat trimmed with forget-me-nots ; Miss Mills, grass lawn blouse, striped green skirt, large green chip straw hat with touches of lilac ; Miss Shand, Gobelin blue crepon, white satin waistcoat edged with passementerie. black hat with pink roses ; Miss Shand, grev crepon, yoke of white uierveilleux horded with pearl trimming, small green toque trimmed with white flowers ; Miss Joachim, white blouse, black lustre skirt, large white chip hat trimmed with pink roses; Miss Ulrich, lawn costume, buttercup straw bat finished with yellow roses ; Miss Harris, fawn shot lustre, white silk waistcoat covered with frills of cream chiffon edged with lace, large white straw bat; Miss E. Morris, blue-

grey cloth threaded with gold, large revers edged with gold passementerie ; Miss Reynolds, grev lustre jacket and skirt, white waistcoat, floral toque ; Miss M. Reynolds, black costume ; Miss Bartieman, blue lustre, black toque trimmed with floral ribbon ; Miss S. Bartieman. cigar brown lustre trimmed with buttercup silk, brown and yellow toque ; Miss Fitchett, black surah silk, large pale green chip hat; Miss D.
