BOWLING.
On the Auckland. Newmarket, and Mount Eden greens some exciting games were played on Saturday. On the former ground a splendid contest between the home club and Remuera took place. Six rinks were occupied, and Auckland eventually won by 29 points, the totals being—Auckland 134, Remuera 105. At Mount Eden a knot of enthusiasts were hard at work on the rinks all the afternoon, games being won by Messrs Burns. Morran, Thwaites, Hooper, and Till. Other games played were won by Ledingham (30) v. Butts (10); Mennie (17) v. Winks (15); and Towsey (22) v. Lawson (15). On the Newmarket green two rinks only were engaged. J. S. Kilgour beat W. Tait, and J. M. Laxon got the better of Stewart by two points. The final for the Ponsonby Club Championship Singles took place between Messrs J. M. Oeddis and A. H. Brookes. After an exciting and good contest the latter gentleman won by six points. The winner receives the President's silver-mounted bowls, and holds the Championship of the green for twelve months. Mr Brookes is only a four seasons' player, and for the last three years he has been a prize winner in his club contests, he was leader in the Champion Fours of Auckland, which was won by the Ponsonby Club this year.
