Dear Bee, October 21. THE BOATING SEASON ‘ was opened on Wednesday afternoon, and as the day was beautifully fine, there was a large attendance, the wharves and Port hills being crowded with spectators. Many also found their way to the Nelson Club’s shed, where afternoon tea and delicious cakes were being dispensed by Mrs Fell and her daughters. The procession of boats started soon after three o’clock, and was headed by a crew of blue jackets from H.M.B. ‘Lizard.’ Next came the Naval Artillery’s cutter ‘Aurora,’and these were followed by the Rowing Club’s boats. Upon returning to the sheds the trophies won last year weie presented by Mrs Felljthe wife of the Club’s president, after which a short speech was made by Mr Fell, and cheers were called for by Mr R. Catley, the Captain of the Club, which brought the pleasant afternoon to a close Mrs Fell wore a grey and black lustre gown with cape to match, small black bonnet; the Misses Fell (two), bright Sink blouses, black skirts, white sailor hats: their cousin. lies M. Fell, wore a cream blouse and dark skirt, white sailor hat. Others present were Mrs Percy Adams, in a slate-grey jacket and skirt with facings of darker silk, stylish black hat trimmed with black feathers and coloured flowers ; Mrs H. Dodson, black serge skirt and jacket with white vest, black and white bonnet: Miss Kissling, grey blouse, dark skirt, sailor hat with ribbon band : Mrs J. Sharp, black costume, green toque : Mesdames Atkinson. Blackett, Leggatt, Glasgow, Sealy, Pitt. Webb-Bowen, Hudson, etc. ; Miss Curtis, heliotrope frock, white sailor hat; Miss G. Jones, navy costume, black hat, large white veil; Miss Leggatt, pink blouse, black skirt, white straw hat; Miss Atkinson, brown tweed, large black hat with feathers ; Miss Mabel Atkinson, grey tweed hat to match ; the Misses MacDonald (two) wore navy costumes with sailor hats; Miss Ethel Mackay, grey lustre trimmed with lace insertion, black tulle hat with pink flowers; the Misses Heaps, Sealy, Gribben, Glasgow, Nelson (Napier), Watt, Hunter-Brown, Cock, Webb-Bowen, Edwards, etc. At the OPENING OF THE TENNIS SEASON Mrs A. Glasgow looked stylish in a grey costume trimmed with bands of black ribbon velvet, hat en suite; Mrs Burns, handsome black gown, butterfly bonnet; her sister. Mrs Edmond (a bride) wore a black skirt and long jacket, hat to match ; Mrs Roberts, black silk skirt, blue blouse; the Misses Fell looked well in white: Miss Gribben, smart grass-cloth frock, large shot straw hat- Others present were Mesdames Pitt, Macquarrie, de Castro, Percy Adams. Ledger, Broad, T. Glasgow, the Misses Leggatt, Heaps, Ledger, Pitt, Fell (Picton), Glasgow. Nelson (Napier), Levien, Moore, Gannaway, Watt. Messrs Pitt, P. Adams, Duncan, Levien, Dixon, Corrigan and many others.
