Dear Bee. October 17. The wind up to the Club RUCH RE PARTIES took place on Friday evening, 16th inst., and was most enjoyable. A very large number were present, there being thirteen tables. Mrs Hume, Mrs Blackburn and Mrs Bright were the hostesses on this occasion. Miss Sage was the fortunate winner of the first lady's prize —a very pretty gold bracelet —and Mrs Hay (who played as gentleman) carried off the other first prize —a pretty gold «carf pin. The boobies were Miss F. Graham and Mr Atkinson. Amongst the dresses Mrs J. Newell (Auckland) wore a pretty yellow silk blouse with lace and sequin trimming, dark skirt; Mrs Sandes, olive-green silk gown; Mrs Stevens (North Shore), black skirt, black satin bodice, cream lace tie; Miss Hume, white dress; Miss Searancke, dark skirt, crushed strawberry blouse, black velvet trimming; Miss Masefield, pink dress ; Miss Wallnutt, crimson silk blouse, white skirt; Miss C. Wallnutt(Auckland), all white ; Mrs Blackburn. pink blouse, white silk trimming, grey skirt; Mrs Whitney (Auckland), black silk skirt, black silk and pale blue bodice; Mrs Cussen, pink blouse, black skirt; Mrs Buckleton (Auckland), grey and green dress, green silk trimmings; Miss Omera, maroon velvet btouse, maroon skirt; Mrs Hume, black silk and pink ; Mrs Hay, black dress ; Mrs Kenny, black satin and lace. The whist party took place last Monday evening at ' Jesmond,* Dr. Brewis’ residence, and a very pleasant evening was spent.
