On Friday the final was played off in boisterous weather, and after an exciting game M. S. Todd beat H. Mac Neil, junr., by two holes, and won the championship. The competition at Miramar (Wellington) on Saturday for the Cleek resulted in a win for Mr Hodson, who holds it now till the next competition, a month later. On Wednesday the lady members met in competition for the balls presented by Miss Duncan. Miss Cooper eventually carried off the prize.
Miss Duncan has been succeeded by Mrs Wardrop as Secretary to the Wellington Golf Club. The members of the Christchurch Golf Club are very loth to give up playing, and there is some talk of keeping it going through the summer. Some of the members of the men’s Golf Club are at present in Dunedin, and we hope they will annex something, especially as we have lost the lady championship. The cycling craze is more rampant than the golf, and certainly no country is better suited to the latter than Canterbury.
