A PLEASANT AFTERNOON WITH THE ' GRAPHIC ' COUSINS.

Saturday afternoon, the day kindly arranged by Mrs Thomson for the cousins to meet at her very pretty place, ‘ Rocklands,’ turned out very spring-like and sunny, and as many of the Graphic cousins as could manage the jaunt put in an appearance early in the afternoon. Mrs Thomson very thoughtfully included the boy cousins in her invitation, but as Cousin Kate, unfortunately, did not receive the note until 6 30 on the previous (Friday) night, the boys had but brief notice, else more would have gone, and enjoyed themselves as much as the other cousins who made their way to Epsom by train, ’bus, or carriage—in all about fourteen, including Cousin Kate, who had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of one or two more of her charming correspondents. The lovely grounds were first inspected, and one of our hostess's daughters played games with the cousins Then Cousin Kate told a fairy tale whilst sandwiches al Jresco were being consumed. Next came a tastefully-arranged and tempting afternoon tea, with all sorts of dainties. Then a move was made to the ballroom, and singing enjoyed, several cousins also playing very nicely indeed. A little dancing on the beautifully-prepared floor followed, and the cousins returned to their homes, having spent a most delightful afternoon. Cousin Gwen made a charming little hostess, and her mother and sisters devoted themselves most heartily to promote the enjoyment of the guests, making everyone feel at home and friendly. The rooms were exquisitely decorated with quantities of fragrant flowers.
