The engagement of Miss Norah Crawford,

third daughter of Mr W. F. Crawford, of Gis-

borne, to Mr O. H Butler, is announced.

MR COLE TO MISS LEE. An interesting wedding took place at St. Matthews, Masterton, when Mr Percy A. Cole, a popular young resident of this district, and son of Mr A. C. Cole, of Comarques, Lee, Kent, England, was united to Elizabeth May (Bessie), youngest daughter of Mr E. Lee, of Blairlogie Junction. The Rev. A. C. Yorke, Vicar, performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a dress of cream broche alpacca, trimmed with surah and real Maltese lace, wearing the usual veil and wreath ; she carried a lovely shower bouquet, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Miss Lee, sister of the bride, and Miss M. G. Johnstone. They wore white alpacaa with white chiffou scarves, white straw hats trimmed with pink roses and white chiffon, and gold double heart brooches pierced with an arrow and connected with a fine chain. Mr H. Lee was best man. AFTER the ceremony the young couple were driven to the residence of Mr T. Shaw, where the guests were entertained. Mr and Mrs Cole left for Wellington by the afternoon train. The going-away dress was petunia cloth trimmed with jet and edged with fur, black satin girdle edged with jet, black straw hat trimmed with black satin, jet, and petunias. There was a smart and bright wedding at St Paul’s Church, Symonds street, on Monday afternoon, when Miss Susie Gaudin, daughter of Mr F. Gaudin, of ‘ La Rocque,’ Rocky Nook, and late of ‘La Maitrerie,' St.

Martin’s, Jersey, was married to Mr Moncrieff Murray McCallum, son of the Rev. A. M. McCallum, of Lake Takapuna. The church was crowded to the doors. The bride looked sweetly pretty in an ivory satin gown brocaded with lilies of the valley. Sprays of orange blossoms were arranged on the bodice, and the square train was edged with kilted lace, and she wore the usual tulle veil over a wreath of orange flowers. She carried a lovely shower bouquet of snowdrops and maiden-hair fern, which was the gift of the bridegroom. Mr Gaudin gave his daughter away. There were two youthful bridesmaids—Miss Jenny Kronfelt and Miss Dora Johnson —who were prettily attired in eau de Nil Liberty silk Empire frocks with smocked yokes, large beefeater hats of coarse rice straw trimmed with accordion-pleated chiffon and white ribbon strings. Each carried a basket of white flowers, and wore the bridegroom’s gift of pretty gold brooches. Mr R. H. McCallum acted as best man, and Mr W. J. P. Gaudin as groomsman. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Canon Nelson. The service was full choral, and Mr I. S. Knight presided at the organ. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at afternoon tea. A VERY pretty wedding took place at Normanby, Taranaki, when Miss Jane Lloyd, daughter of Mr Thomas Lloyd, was united to Mr Frederick Meredith. Both parties from their youth having been residents of Normanby, there was a large muster of friends, and the happy couple received many presents, both useful and ornamental. MR POPE TO MISS WALFORD. A marriage took place at Rahotu, Taranaki, last week, when Miss Walford was united to Mr Pope. The young lady was very popular in the district, having given her services at the several social entertainments, where her musical talent was much appreciated. The settlers sent the bride a large number of presents, both valuable and useful.
