LAWNS & LINKS.
GOLF. THE second competition for Mrs Riddiford's medal was played on the Hutt Links on Saturday, Miss Fitzherbert carrying off the prize, for a month at least. Among the other competitors were Misses Bodmin, Burnett (two), Haste, Humphrey, Johnston, Lee, Wilford (two), aud Mesdames Climie, Gilbert, Howden, Purdy, Scales, and Treadwell. Messrs Lees and Caldwell played off their ‘ tie ’ for the ladies’ trophy, which resulted in a win for Mr Lees. The Misses Johnston provided most grateful refreshments—tea and all manner of dainty cakes, which certainly meet with the warmest appreciation on a golf link. At Miramar Miss Gertrude Rose headed the candidates for the Boyle medal, which has now passed its tenth process of possession. Other players were Miss Duncan, Miss Cooper, Miss S. Johnston, Mrs Lees, Miss Morrah, Mrs Wardrop, and Miss H. Williams.
In Christchurch golf still holds its own in the Park, and on several days during the week the players were making good work.
