Last Tuesday evening the annual CONVERSAZIONE of the parishioners of Christ Church and All Saints'(Anglican) was held in the Provincial Halt and proved a great success in every way An excellent programme of instrumental and vocal music had been arranged, and was much enjoyed by alh Miss K. Fell was very successful in her song, ‘I Djn’t Want to Play in Your Yard,’ and received a big encore, when she repeated the last verse. The glee. 'The Three Chafers,’ sung by several gentlemen, also called forth much applause and laughter. The other performers were Mesdames Greenfield. Hoult, Walker, the Misses Pratt and Hobden. and Mr D. Jackson. The accompanists were the Misses Webb Bowen. Hobden. and Jackson. During the evening His Lordship the Bishop addressed a few words to tho*e present. Tea. coffee, sandwiches, and cake were handed round, and the pleasant proceedings terminated with the National Anthem. Amongst those present I noticed Mrs Mules, in black dress and mantle, black jet and lace bonnet; Mrs Kempthorne. brown tweed, black and white bonnet: Mrs Sedgwick -Picton). brown cloth costume, brown velvet bonnet to match: Mrs Richmond, black crepon, handsome silk and velvet mantle, black bonnet with pink roses ; Mrs Pitt, grey satin dress, black velvet fur-trimmed mantle, bonnet with red roses: Mrs Sealy wore black ; Mrs Percy Ad a ms. black dress, handsome cloak of green cloth trimmed with fur, black velvet hat with feathers ; Mrs de Castro fawn costume, jacket trimmed with black fur, small jet bonnet: Mrs Kissling, fawn trimmed with blue velvet, hat to match : Mrs Tanner, black and red tweed, bonnet to match ; Mrs Maginnity. black silk, magenta roses in bonnet: Mrs Heaps, black gown, heliotrope bonnet: Miss Richmond, black and reo rough tweed trimmed with black velvet, hat to match; the Misses Fell (two) were dressed alike in tweeds of brown and green trimmed with brown velvet, large brown velvet hats with green tips : Miss Webb-Bo wen. gown of shot green and red cloth, bodice richly trimmed with green velvet, black straw ‘Trilby ' hat with magenta flowers; Miss Leggatt. blue cloth, becoming toque to match : Miss Heaps, black and grey tweed, black hat; Miss Wood, brown tweed, golf cape to match, black and brown toque : Miss Blac<etL navy serge skirt and cape, black sailor hat with red quill* : Mesdames Wood, Leggatt, Handby, Wrestle, Quaine

P. Kempthorne. Rev. A. H Sedgwick (Picton). Archdeacon Wright, the Messrs Blythe, Joynt, Preshaw. de Castro. Sfaginnity. Kissling. L. Levien. Pitt. Mules (two*, and many others. During this week there have been several children's parties. Mrs Robinson gave one last Wednesday evening, when about forty youngsters had a jolly time. The pretty play 'Cinderella was very nicely acted by the Misses M. Robinson. 8. Blackett. L. Tomlinson. L. Preshaw. Trent, and Handby. Miss Rowley acted as stage manager, and managed everything most successfully. Miss D. Catley was pianist. Meedames Cuthbertson. Lightfoot. Preshaw. Misses Tomlinson and Preshaw also assisted Judge and Mrs Robinson to amuse the little ones. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs Preshaw entertained some very little children. The next afternoon and evening the same lady gave a party for elder ones, which from all accounts was much enjoyed, and was pronounced by all a splendid * wind-up ’ to the holidays.
