CHRISTCHURCH.
Dear Bee, June 4. I think my weekly budget to you must be shortening my life considerably, for the weeks are so short and fly round so quickly, but for the winter weather they are quite long enough. THE ART GALLERY has been the great resort this week, and the exhibition now on view is well worth a visit. Our artists are to be congratulated on some of their lovely pictures. Mr John Gibb has some beautiful specimens of his arc Among the flower pictures Miss Studdart perhaps comes first, but there are man v excellent studio*. Among the portraits. Mr Henderson (sen > by Miss Mollie Richardson, is a life-iike picture. The exhibition was opened by Mr Justice Denniston. the Hon. E. C. J. Stevens being away. There was a good attendance of the public, and a little music from Miss Freda Marsuen. Miss Graham. Mrs J. Fairhurst, and Mr Maitland Gar d’ner passed a very p easant evening. There is a short musical programme almost every evening under the management of Miss Nora Gard’ner. and this, of course, adds to the attraction of the Gallery. It must be very gratifying to our artists to see the magic word ' sold ’ on their pictures, and there are a number with the little label attached. Dolly Vale.
