Kingdon, Scaife, Oldham, Wither, Pitt, Lunn, Burnes, Molesworth, Saxton, etc. On Saturday afternoon, after a number of wet ones, we were at last favoured with a fine Saturday, and the Brook Club took that opportunity of opening their prettv TENNIS COURTS for the first time this season. They have now six courts, and all are looking so beautifully green and well kept, and were soon bright with energetic players. We hope yet to see the championship tennis meeting held in Nelson on the Brook Club Courts, and it would be a great incentive to Nelson players. During the afternoon delicious tea and dainty cakes were kindly dispenß?d by Miss Green, and much appreciated by the number of onlookers, as well as the thirsty players. Miss Green wore a cool cream gown, and small white hat; Mrs Roberts,exceedingly pretty and stylish gown of fine grey crepon with pale blue chiffon and silver passementerie, dainty toque of pink roses and shot ribbon ; Mrs Glasgow, handsome black silk and jet gown, small jet bonnet; Mrs Pickal (Sydney), pale green costume, and small toque ; Mrs Bunny, black crepon skirt and cape with jet, white silk blouse, burnt straw toque with blue cornflowers: Mrs Tomlinson, black striped grenadine, black bonnet; Mrs Preshaw, flowered delaine, black bonnet with blue cornflowers; Mrs A. Glasgow, black crepon, floral toque of forget-me-nots: Mrs Jackson, Mrs Green, Mrs Hobden, Mrs Townsend. Mrs Burnes, black skirt, white blouse, sailor hat; Mrs Macquarie, black, fawn bonnet; Mrs Clark, red, black hat with blue flowers; Mrs Webb-Bowen, Miss Watt, pretty green blouse, becoming toque; Miss Gribben, black crepon with yoke and full sleeves of silk and jet, floral toque of violets; Misses Glasgow (two), serge costumes, sailor hats ; Miss Broad, black and white costume, picture hat: Miss Pitt, serge costume black sailor hat with forget-me-nots; Miss Jackson, cream gown, black feather hat; Misses Fell (two), dark skirts, light blouses, sailor hats ; Miss Leggatt, Misses Preshaw (two), blouses and skirts; Miss V. Next Saturday, if the weather permits, the Nelson Lawn Tennis Club open their new courts up the Maitai, when tea is to be provided by Mrs Mackay, and Misses Huddlestone and K. Fell. I hear the courts are looking well, so doubtless a number of players will turn up.
