Andrews intend paying a visit to the Old Country, leaving Wellington per Tongariro on the 21st. Their intention is to be away for six m imhs Mr Anderson is to undertake Mr Andrews’ d ities as m «nager at the malt house, and Mrs Ensor is coming up from Kaikoura to take charge of the house and children for Mr and Mrs Andrews, bringing her own little ones with her. It will be quite a picnic for her with seven children all under six years old. Mr and Mrs Gudgeon are off to Nelson for a month, to try if a change will imur ive Mr Gudgeon’s health, which is still in a weak stale from the operation. Auckland was recommended, but Mr Gudgeon fears the sea-sickness, and will try Nelson first. Mrs and Miss Webb-Bo wen are staying here for a few days on their way from Sydney, and will accompany Mr and Mrs Gudgeon to Nelson. Several Blenheim families are down here for a change. Mrs J. B. Green and family are in lodgings on the Waika va Ro id : Mrs Jenkins with her family have taken a hou-<e up E ison’s Valley, and Mr and Mrs W. Sinclair and family are also here. The Marlborough Sounds seem to ba happy hum ini grounds for Wellington yachts. The Maritana was here last week, a d this weik the champion yacht Waitangi is in port. To-day she has gone to the Grove with a party of Blenheim people. Mr Garston, who was late y appointed Traffic Manager here, has resigned rather than come here. Picton folk think he may go farther and fare worse. Miss Nellie Allen leaves for Christchurch to-day to attend the University lect .res for the second term of her B. A. degree. Miss Ethel Beauchamp has returned from a long tour round and about the South Island, where sne has enjoyed herself.
