MUSIC FOR GRAPHIC’ READERS.

A NEW rises or MUSIC for next wkkk s issue. The Proprietor of the Graphic has pleasure in announcing that with NEXT WEEK’S GRAPHIC will be presented a New Givotte by the young Auckland composer Mr Impett. * The Chimes Gavotte ’ was written to commemorate the new chimes in the tower of the Municipal Buildings, Auckland, and is a really clever bit of composition. The Gavotte opens with a facsimile of the chimes, and the clock strikes tour. The first bars of the Gavotte are also initiative of the chimes effect, after which other taking themes are opened up. The second movement in Eis a most catching and melodious one, in which here and there is a pleasing recollection of bells. After the second movement the primary melody is reverted to, which is interrupted towards the finale by a bar of silence, after which the chimes are again introduced and the clock strikes five, while two or three ban bring the gavotte to a most effective conclusion. • The piece is bound to be a great favourite, both in the concert hall and drawing-room.
