In one room Dr. Purchas revealed, with the aid of the microscope, some of the hidden secrets of nature. In another, Mr Crosher exhibited some of the wonders of electricity. During the evening a very creditable programme, comprising vocal and instrumental selections, was furnished by the Club members. Refreshments were dispensed by the ladies and everyone appeared to be well pleased with the evening's entertainment. The success of the gathering was undoubtedly due to the efforts of the popular Secretary, Mr 8. Macauley. assisted by the Misses Harris, Cullen, Atkinson, Powell, Minnett. Kelly, etc. Mrs Baiiey. of Penrose, gave a most successful little evening last week. She was ably assisted to entertain her guests by her daughter and two sons Mrs Pierce, of Symonds-street. gave a large and most enjoyable dance last Thursday evening.
