Dear Bee, July 24. The (real) Post Office has been almost deserted by' officials, Mr Gudgeon and one of his assistants having had to ‘ knuckle down ’ to influenza together. Both, I hear, are recoverBoctor and Mrs Scott, too. have had a sorry time of it during our dissipation, Miss Scott and Master Frank Scott being seriously ill. and Mr Alfred Scott returning home after his accident at Marson, was so exhausted from the journey that the passengers on board the Mawhera thought he was dying. All three invalids are now progressing toward recovery. Mr and Mrs Herbert Godfrey lost their baby through influenza. Much sympathy is felt for them, and the flags of the shipping were half-mast in respect for Mr Godfrey, who is manager of the Loan and Mercantile Company’s stores here. Jean.
