OBITUARY.

THE sad death of Mrs White, wife of Mr White, Traffic Manager of the Picton-Blenheim railway, has cast quite a gloom over the town, and had a most depressing influence over the Birthday festivities. The death took place early on Wednesday morning, and the news came with a shock to all, as everybody, though they knew she was ill, understood she was on the road to recovery. The funeral was on Thursday and was largely attended, everyone doing their best to show their sympathy for the bereaved familv. The coffin was covered with beautiful wreaths and floral designs, and Mr White carried a lovely anchor made with white chrysanthemums, roped with violets. Mrs White was a most devoted mother, and her loss can scarcely yet be realised by those she has left. Picton people deeply sym pathise with M r White in bis bereavement, and still more tney sympathise with Miss White, on whose young shoulders all the cares of a household and the management of five young children devolve.
