Dear Bee, Ma ' 11 Much interest was taken in the rounder match miss linton’s versus borough school, nr>ri Koinnn was gay with spectators to see the ffictndc 1 thte battle, which was fought to the end th! weather being then Propitious The Borough school girls were victors on this occasion, so that both sides are afternoon people again assembled on the Square to witness a veterans’ rounder match, of whom however, failed to put in an appearance, and the m * A in<ktnN thp affair had perforce to go out into the highways anf the by ways and invite young maidens and youths to jo n in ?ha elderly snort. The result was unlimited fun tor the spectators. < e vptprans were Mr Philpotts (Mayor), Mr Younger (Town B cierk) Mr H. C. Seymour (Councillor). Mr C. C. The tennis going on. at the other mo Of the SoSare was a failure owing to the fun of the rounders, and the nlayeK had at last to give in and join the spectators of the new craze which hasfrozen on here. Un the Square I noticed Mrs Oxley; Mrs Seely, in a handsome red and brown plaid tweed <mwn imide in the new way, with gigot sleeves and basque tabs , Alktn Mrs IL Seymour; Misses Mclntyre, in dark skirt, and handsome plaid silk cross over blouse ; Beauchamp, B. Greensill Seymour, Philpotts, etc., etc. In the evening the Kxcelsior Society gave a SMALL SOCIAL in th« schoolroom, which was. as usual, much enjoyed both by hosts and gu™?s there being present Misses. Hay. Fuller NickI 1”. Greensill (three). Allen, Seymour, Waddy. Linton (two) Smith, and Lloyd, and Messrs Howard, Waddy, Greensiil. Fuller etc. A little dancing, some new games, and all the old favourites were played, and a very pleasant evening passed. ODDS AND ENDS. Another well-known resident of Picton, in the person of ‘Sam’ Unbone has gone to join the great majority, travellers to and fro will remember ’ Sam, the f *l° tniod C 'p verfavourite and his barrow was always the first to be filled.
