Our prize this week goes to Miss Essie Holland, City Road, Auckland, whose replies reached us in advance of those of • Index,’ * Francais,’ and * Patience.' There seems to be no pronounced resemblance between the Urewera country and the ten commandments unless it be as some of our competitors suggest, that both are broken. * Kate ’ sends a solution which looks as if it had something in it— ‘ Because the laws were Seddon (said on) two tables of stone ’ Then in a note she adds —* Referring to two stone mill wheels lying in the Urewera country.' Another correspondent (Nelson) thinks tbe answer should be— 'Because it is most difficult to administer.’ He adds — * The Native Lands belong to the Ministers of the Crown, and the Ten Commandments to the ministers of the church.’ Monthly Prize.—The order of the monthly prizes is as follows ‘ Index,’ ‘ Patience,’ 24; • Burong,’ 22£ ; ‘Francais,’ 22 ; ‘ Doris,’ ‘ Esperance,’ 20 ; ‘ Kate,’ 161.
