THE PREMIER’S SILVER WEDDING. THE portiaitof the Premier and his wife have appeared before in this journal, but may be repeated with advantage on such an occasion as that described in our heading. All good New Z-alanders, however strongly some of them may differ from Mr Seddon in politics, will warmly congratulate him on the twenty-fifth anniversary of his wedding day. Looking back to that day. Mrs Seddon, whom we also felicitate, must feel a great thrill of pride in the man whose pertinacity in work, able statesmanship, and self confidence and reliance have placed him at the head <f offices in the moat prosperous of British colonies. And Mr Seddon himself would scarcely be human if he too did not feel a great pride in having with his own right hand gotten

himself the victory. In another part of the paper are described the social festivities observed on the occasion. When guests in gracious friendship came to share The silver day that tells of silver hair— Twenty-five years have floated on life’s tide, Since on that day they cast their masks aside. For in this world, however leal and true. The frankest hearts are veiled to all but few. That their future years together may be at least as many and happy as those gone by is our sincere wish, and that we are sure of the colony at large.
