Dear Bee, July 5. At MRS HENRY EDWARDS* AFTERNOON TEA. last Thursday Mrs Lyme was gowned in a dark plum coloured cashmere made quite plainly; Mrs 11. Dodson, an elegant tailor gown of cheeked tweed with black hat and strings ; Mrs Thornton, lovely tweed gown with red velvet toque edged with beaver; Mrs Taylor (Christchurch), brown tweed, brown straw hat: Miss Roberts, grey gown, red waistcoat.; Miss Moddings (Christchurch), red cashmere with black velvet band on skirt ami putlVd sleeves of same, large black felt hat with strings; Miss Mackay, stylish gown of fawn cloth, with sapphire velvet puffed sleeves and vest, sapphire velvet hat; Mi-s Bonnington,.Gobelin blue gown, black hat; Mirs Etta Edwards, in dark blue; Miss Edith Edwards, dark brown gown with velvet bands. Mrs Edwards received her guests in a handsome black silk gown, small black cap. At the concert given by the members of the HARMONIC SOCIETY at the Provincial Ball Mrs Iloulker, looked, as usual, very sweet in palest heliotrope, with velvet of a darker shade as trimming; Mrs Percy Adams looked very elegant in pale yellow silk with dark green velvet sleeves, and lovely old lace on the low basque ; Mrs Walker, black evening dress ; Miss Mackay, soft white silk. These were the soloists.
