OLD KID GLOVES Did you know that it was possible to transform your old kid gloves into things of beauty instead of consigning them to the fireplace 1 The long wrists of mousquetaire gloves can be fashioned into bags for opera glasses. Use the same patterns as for silk, and line with silk or velvet. The gloves used need not all be of one colour, but may be of two or more shades, or of contrasting colours. ' Finish with a cord and draw up with a narrow ribbon, or make in square shape and finish with a flap. On the outside put your initial, monogram, or any decoration fancied ; either in embroidery, painting or fine etching. Party bags are made of smaller pieces, over - seamed together on the wrong side. They are pretty with a medallion of light colour on each side embroidered in silk, and surrounded by diamonds in different shades of harmonising colour. These bags should be large enough to hold fan, slippers, gloves, etc. A pocket may be put in the lining to hold a powder puff. Handsome sofa cushions are made of the kid patchwork, the favorite designs being diamonds or hexagons. The cutting must be evenly done and the sewing neatness itself. Tidies, head-rests, and corners for the arms of chairs can be made of cast off gloves, and are appropriate gifts for gentlemen.

Covers for books may be pieced of kid or pieces of the kid may be buttonholed round in silk, and then crochetted together, or they may be made in alternate sections of leather and crochet. A pretty way would be to have corners and centre-piece in leather and the rest in silk crochet. Bands of this kid worK, either solid or interspersed with crochet, make a handsome addition to table or mantel scarf, throws, etc., giving an oriental appearance.
