We all thought that Blucher was too old and too weedy to have taken second prize, but doubtless Miss Zoe Redwood’s riding had a great deal to do with it. Miss Bessie O'Leary on the veteran Orient won the jump over five flights of hurdles. Mrs Burns on the handsome Captain Boison being a good second. Miss O’Leary's girth and stirrup strap broke between the last two hurdles, but she got over the last jump marvellously and then jumped off. I did not see many ladies’ gowns worthy of mention but among the few were Mrs Richardson, in a beautifully cut light tweed witn square-cut bodice filled in with puffings of dark heliotrope silk, while folds of the same silk outlined the short bodice, finishing in a knot at one side, becoming black straw hat with wreath of yellow roses and black guipure lace: Miss Pickering (who is staying at Erina) looked very well in greyish tweed with Eton coat over shot silk blouse, black hat with long white feather; Mrs Hanna, light tweed corselet skirt over cream frilled blouse and Eton coat, white reefer hat with cream silk : Mrs Clouston wore her pretty fawn corduroy costume; Miss Lilian Horne was all in white : Miss F.
