Dear Bee, September 23. The programme at the ENTERTAINMENT BY THE GARRICK AMATEUR CLUB was an excellent one. The tableaux were a tremendous success, the first ’ Queen of tne seasons, beingquife a pictorial feast. Miss \\ illiamson was Queen. Misses Adair. Jessie Williamson. Watson, and r rascr (Seasons) in prettily blending draperies, flowers, and wreaths. In the scene ' braid the Raven Hair from the ‘ Mikado ’ the grouping and colouring were very effective. Miss Campbell personating the artless Yum-yum: and Aiis-es \\ arson. Fraser, and Campbell, her maidens. Miss Adair, in pretty pink silk (.iarabaid! over black satin skirt, accompanied the singers ; Misses Paiairet. Adair, and \\ atson. when next the curtain rose, were discovered enjoying ‘Scandal and Tea.’ Another prettv tableau was ‘ Two’s Company. Threes Xone. Miss Williamson being the Madame de Trop. Miss V. Crawford and Mr A. Fraser the happv two. 'When the World was Young.’ and,’J he Three Graces’ (Misses McPhail. Williamson, and Paiairet) were memorable pictures. Father Kehoe played the overture, a brilliant famasie on Irish airs, and also sang a whimsical ballad ; Mr Ward, in grotesque Masher costume, contributed two comic songs (encored), and with .Mr Dalrymple sang the ever favourite ’Larboard’ Watch ’: Miss Fraser, the *Glou Glou ’ song from 'La Mascotte’ (exquisitely renderedi: and Mr Langford, a very prettv ballad. In the lively little comedy "Turn Him Out,’ which concluded this most enjoyable entertainment. Mr A. Foster as Xicodemus Nobbs (an itinerant vendor of juvenile toys), the nimble, hilarious, and pugilistic protector of the sprightly little maid Susan (Miss Fraser, in short frock of emerald green, lace trimmed apron. kerchieL and cap), and her mistress iMiss M. Campbell, in elegant Princess robe of apple green and nceile lace) : and Mr T. Currie »Mackintosh Moke) were almost professionally perfect and kept the fun going to the end. Ihe part of Eglantine Roseleaf, an exquisite dude, was cleverly sustained by Mr H. Watson. 1 hear that the gross amount of the taking reached £25. '1 hough Miss Fraser made her first appearance in this entertainment, she was so successful that many p-ople are saying she is the best amateur that has hitherto favoured us.
