Utilizing His Neighbour's Voice. —Neighbour (occupying adjoining room in lodgings) : • Ah. my dear young lady. 1 have a great favour to ask of you. Would you be so kind as to sing this afternoon between three and four?' Songstress > flattered? : - Very willingly, sir ; I suppose vou are having company ?' Neighbour: ‘ Not exactly, but our landlord is coming to draw his rent, and I should like to take the opportunity to ask him to reduce it.' Best He Could Afford.—Old Gentleman: ‘Little boy, lam grieved to see you smoking a cigarette.’ Willy Korff: ■ What are yer givin’us ? Yer don't s'pose a young gent wid my allowance can sport a meerschaum ?' A TBUTHFCT. MAN'. He mistook her for his sister: In the darkened hall he kissed her : He implanted sixteen kisses on her darling bobbing head. When she exclaimed. 'My goodness I' He explained his seeming rudeness ; He mistook her for his sister, or at least that’s what lie said. * * Candid. —Young Man : ‘ I want an engagement-ring for a young lady.' Jeweller: ‘Yes, sir; about what size?' Young Man : ' I don't know exactly, but she can twist me around her little finger, if that's any guide.’
Pleasant Information.—‘ Do you like me?’ asked the young man, addressing the little brother of the young lady on whom he was making a call. ‘ I don't like yon as well as I like Jack Jolliboy.' ‘ Why not ?' ‘ Because he always gives me sixpence to go out of the room when he comes to see sister.'
