Dear Bee, July 30. We have had such rainy weather for week-, and we are in hopes it will clear up in time to welcome the war-hip* with our bright sunny days. On Friday »3th> the Cinderella dance took place. It was simplycrowded. and the night was rather warm. The officers of H.M.S. Curacoa were present, and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. MRS COLLETS DAX« E was much enjoyed. The hostess looked well in a rich *atin robe wirh pale pink front: Mrs Stewart, black lace: Mr* Irvine, black silk : Mrs Berry, black silk and lac* : Mr* Forth and MrWatkins. soft white gown* : Mr-Thomas, handsome black beaded satin : Mr* Reimenschnieder. • ream satin with sparkling trim mings : Mrs Spence, lace and satin: Miss E Morey, ping silk: Miss Sinclair, cream lace: Miss G. Morey, pink’ silk: Miss Reimenschnieder. silk gown: Miss Griffiths, satin gown: Miss Walker, cream net ; Miss Watkins, cream cashmere gown. I believe the gentlemen present were Messrs H. Berkeley. W. Curacoa. and realiy I cannot remember the others. ARRIVAL OE H.M.S. ORLANDO. August 9th was a bright day to our delight, and about eight o'clock that morning H M S. Orlando was to be seen coming into harbour in al! her -p’enuour. followed shortly by the Royalist. Wednesday 10th an ' Ar Home' wa* given at Government House, which proved to be very pleasant and most enjoyable. On Thursday a cricket match was arranged between the Naval Officer- and Snvaian*. the latter winning the day. A great crowd were attracted to the cricket ground to listen to the charming music which was supplied by the Orlando s band. DRESSES AT MRS BERKELEY S PARTY. Mr* Berkeley wore a handsome cream satin gown : MrsUomey. black and old gold : Mrs black gown: Mr* L. Brown, blue *atin: Mr- Summers ille. cream and cardinal : Mr* Hill, silk and lace: Mrs Collet, cream silk ; Mrs Berry, silk and lace: Mrs Thomas, rich white -ilk; Mrs Watkins iNew Zealand*, soft -ilk gown with pale pink ro*e-: Mr* Farewell, -ilk gown: Mrs Spence, cream gauze and pretty flower- : Mr* Reimenschnieder. black *iik : Mi— Haddock, very neat white dress ; Mi-s Murev. pale blue, very becoming; Miss Griffiths, cream satin ; Miss M. Royalist were present. Monday i!sth< an ’ At Home ’ was held on H.M.S. Orlando, and a great number of people were present, and spent a \ cry pleasant afternoon on board. In the evening Mrs Reimenschnieder gave a mo*t charming dance which came in as an "adieu ’ to the merry and gay week of the year, and many sigh* were passed as the time chimed awav the last half hour, and then farewell.
