It seems such a pity that when the alternative of plain and fanev dress is given at a ball, most people choose the former style, at least this was done at the RUGBY UNION FOOTBALL SOCIAL Amongst the ladies Mi-s Lily Falconer «Picton». looked verv pretty in bright pink rarletan with white ribbon*, and was thought bv manv to be the bc’l a . while MissGonlon »s ‘ Night ’ was equallv admire!, and indeed looked very graceful in black and silver, and Miss Card was «imp!v charming in white and silver <such a becoming frock*: Mi-s Leahy * <rvli<h and c’eganr heliotrope gown with Emp : re sash was much remarked ; Miss Heaney wore a very pretty cream and gold dress with Watteau n’ear and gold passementerie corselet, and nrertv opera cloak with vellow <flk hood ; Mis* Rees looked exceedingly well in white broch- : Mis* Weber seemed a good deal admired in white beaded tulle and silk with heliotrope crepe de chine: Mi-- Mn»r. handsome black merveilleux with jewelled lace berthe : Mi** Clare wore oneof the nrettiesr dresses in the room, a lovely -shade of Pink nun * veiling and gauze : Mr* Mclntosh <Picton>. handsome black moire w*"th lemon silk : Mr* Carev looked so nice in b’ack silk and jet: Mi** Carev. white frock: Mr* Fitzgerald, black merveilleux: Mr* Wiisnn. pale embroidered silk : Mrs C’onnlly looked pretty in black with lovelv white flower* °n rhe bodice: Mr* Powell, handsome red sarin and lace : Mis* M Maxwell Brown, white and pink ribbon* : Miss A Paslev looked very nice in black with creamy Maltese lace; MissG.
