Dear Bee, September 6. The usual monthly dance in connection with the RONSONBY 4 AT HOME' took place on Friday evening in the Pon-onby Hall. Amongst the pretty costumes worn I may mention Mrs Devore. beautiful black silk gown: Mrs Dufaur wore a handsome black silk gown relieved with blue : Mr- Masefie d handsome black and vieux rose silk gown : Mrs Clarke, pretty cream and gold gown: Mrs Cotter, handsome b ack and red costume : Mrs Edgar, rich black silk sown: Mrs Buchanan looked nice in cream : Mrs Hughes, handsome black costume : Miss Dixon looked pretty in amber net finished with scarlet poppies: Miss Bach pretty pale pink gown : Miss Percival, becoming gown of pale blue combined with pink : Miss Masefield, charming white costume: Miss Evan*. pretty biscuit-coloured silk trimmed with ruby velvet : Miss Dunne ct. e egant silver-grey silk gown : Miss Devore, very dainty white costume finished with green : Miss F. The PONSONBY SOCIAL UNION dance held in the Oddfellows' Hall, proved one of the most successful of a pleasant series. Masters of Ceremonies—Messrs W. J. Rees and S. D. Hanna—performed their duties with the utmost satisfaction to all. The extras were nicely played by Mr- Morrin. Miss Court, and Mr W. Neumegan. Mrs Hesketh received her guests in a handsome black silk dress covered with black lace, and prettily trimmed with white flowers. Miss Hesketh looked extremely pretty in white nuns veiling trimmed with ribbon* to match, ostrich feather in hair : her sisters wore very striking frocks, one pink and the other in yellow, which *uited them admirably: Mr* SV. The decorations were exceedingly beautifuL The wall* were covered with long garlands of greenery and flowers, principally camellias and arum lilies, mirror*, flag* and appropriate mottos and emblem* of the craft, garland* of evergreen* and flow- -r* were also suspended across the ceiling, the whole effect being most charming. Mr W. J. Rees made a most efficient Master of Cere i-.onies. The supper was splendid, and the music excellent. The lodge room upstairs was also beautifully decorated with flower*, and a number of microscopes and other interesting objects were on view for the pleasure of non-dancers. The attendan?e was very large, but unfortunately the ladies were m the majority. Among*: the visitors were a number of officer* from the warship.
