Dear Bee, July 29. . I must describe another dance, and a very successful one it is, I am pleased to say. As usual, it was held in the Alexandra Hall, which has been considerably altered in the last month, the gallery having been extended and it now forms the dress circle. The dresses worn last Wednesday evening were extremely pretty for the most part. Let me describe some of them 31i ss Capel ta debutante), looked a picture in rich white figured silk and chitton, there was a very full ruche round the bottom of the skirt, and between the dances she wore a broad white lace scarf. Her bouquet, too, was exquisite, being composed of snowflakes, paper narcissus, etc., and long trails of ivy. Miss Constance Bayly wore while silk with long sprays of starry white flowers, some of which she also wore in her hair; Miss Blanche Rcnnell, a. very •i 1 of white silk and tulle ; Miss Emily Rcnnell, pale pink silk ; Miss Adelaide Rcnnell. white net; Miss Annie Ki nnell, pink cashmere and chiffon ; Miss Ella Kennell, blue cashmere and satin; M.ss Lightfoot (Nelson), yellow cashmere ; Miss Ruck I Auckland), pink spotted net over striped pink satin ; Mrs Fred Bayly (\\ aitara), pale pink tulle with chenille spots (a very pretty dress); Miss Bayly, maroon silk with coffee coloured lace ; Miss Isabel Hamerton, pale green nun’s veiling and coffee lace ; Miss rurner (Patea). amber silk with clusters of wallflowers; Miss Bramley, black net with dashes of old rose; Mi-s Fookes, green brocade; Miss It. Stuart, grey poplin; Mrs Paul, black lace embroidered with gold; Mrs Oliver Samuel, pink brocade trimmed with swansdown; Miss Arrow (Waipawa), black lac 3 with vivid scarlet chiffon ; Miss Dcvenish, yellow and scarlet; Miss Pratt, but tercup yellow silk and net; Miss Sadler, striped salmon pink silk; Miss Valentine, black lace: Mrs Valentine, pink silk, train, with skirt of fisherman’s net; Miss Ellis-M eTaggart, white silk ; Miss Inez Kirkby, white silk and net; Mrs Walter Penn, the same; Miss Read, blue silk with striped gauze: Mrs H. B. Leatham, blue silk embroidered with gold ; Miss Dalziel, cream figured satin; Miss Kogers, black and scarlet; Mrs VVitchell, rose silk and tarla an. The music was excellent, consisting of the piano and four violins, and altogether the dance may be said to have been a thorough success. A great many strangers were present on this occasion.
