TIMARU.
Dear Bee, July 15. It is a very long t ime since you have had any news from Timaru. For one thing there has not been much news to send, and, although 1 have not been quite in the fashion and bail * La Grippe.’ still I have not been well, ami have been disinclined to join in the few gaieties we have had. One or two pleasant little afternoon teas and one or two small * musicales’ seemed to me to be all there has been to chronicle up to this week. MRS RAYMOND’S JUVENILE PARTY. Mrs Raymond, of Rattrasna, gave a very pleasant party to young people. There were a good many older friends present who devoted themselves to the amusenient of the children till 11 o’clock and then had their ow n innings, and both children and grown ups seem to have had a very good time indeed. On the same evening the Timaru gentlemen gavea dinner to Mr Archer, who is removing to Christchurch, with his family. They are very old residents here, and will be greatly missed. Air Archer’s successor. Mr Macbeth, is already in Timaru, but so far. unaccompanied by his family, which I hear is large and includes several grown up sons and daughters, so that I imagine they will be an acquisition when they do come.
Estelle.
