Dear Bee, June 27. The first of our Assembly dances was on Friday, when some of the DRESSES AT THE HALL were most becoming. Mrs Booth looked extremely well in rich yellow silk, with green ribbon velvet arranged as a berthe, and forming a Watteau bow on the back of the shoulder; Mrs Percy Adams, soft white surah silk, with Indian-looking gold embroidery on the front of the skirt and the low corsage ; Mrs Bunny, beautiful black velvet robe, the front of the corsage opening over pale pink silk, covered with soft white tulle; Mrs >*itt, black lace, with panel of bright red satin, the lace draped becomingly over it; Mrs A. Glasgow, rich corded black silk; Mrs Mackay, handsome black velvet ; Mrs Glasgow, handsome cloak of black velvet embroidered in gold; Mrs Broad, becoming bronze plush cloak ; Mrs Macquarrie, Mrs L. Adams, Mrs H. Edwards, Mrs Preshaw, Mrs Houlker, Mrs De Castro, Mrs Levien, Mrs Mcßae, Mrs Wood ; Mrs N. Raine, wearing a creamy surah silk ; Miss Pitt, very tine white cashmere, made in a Princess robe, the front of the skirt having three deep flounces of lace, long grey cashmere cloak lined with pink silk; Miss Levien, who was certainly one of the most handsomely attired girls in the room, was robed in grey velvet, withruching on the skirt of rich yellow satin, the same being used on the low bodice. The combination does not sound promising, but it was a striking costume, and 1 think one of the most elegant worn. Miss Glasgow, pretty white cashmere. trained, with Watteau back; Miss Boor, also white cashmere, with Watteau back; Miss Huddlestone, lemon net, with large purple pansies dotted over the front of the skirt, Watteau bow of lemon velvet; Miss Watson, bright red, veiled with black net; Miss H. Edwards, pink broche; her sister in black; Miss Heaps, white broche; Miss Wood, pink silk and chiffon; Miss Broad, pale greeny merveilleux, Watteau bow of emerald green ribbon ; Miss Ledger, pale pink er&pe, Empire belt; Miss Macdonald, white net and silk, with prune ribbons; her sister had bronze ribbons; Miss Feb, red velvet; Miss L. Fell, bright green silk ; Miss Curtis, pale heliotrope robe, with flounce of lovely old lace; Miss Mackay, saffron coloured gown, with baby bodice; Misses Cock, Miss Chatterton, Miss N. Jones, Miss C. Jones, Miss Quick (Wellington), Miss Stoddart (Christchurch) Miss Atkinson, Miss Preshaw 7 , also Messrs Macquarrie, Fell, Wither (2», Heaps, Macdonald <2>, Broad, King. Harden, Joy nt, Grace, De Castro, Glasgow (2), James, Pitt, Hunter-Brown, Fox, Marshal, Booth, Duncan, and Dr. Cressey. DRESSES AT THE CONCERT. Mrs Patterson, black silk gown. Empire sash ; Mrs Percy Adams, palest heliotrope robe with rich white lace ; Mrs Houlker, dark red velvet opening over pink silk, made becomingly in a Princess robe; Mrs Bamford, creamy cashmere cloak; Miss Sealy, becoming black velvet robe trained ; Miss C. Richmond, white silk, three-quarter cloak of cream cashmere and astrachan ; Miss Wood, black lace; Miss Mackay, heliotrope gown dotted with chenille spots ; Miss Pitt in rich black velvet, trained, scarlet poppies on the low bodice ; Miss F. Sealy, bright red gown ; Miss L. Fell, soft white cashmere robe ; Miss Fell, crimson plush cloak ; Miss Jackson, black net and silk. PHYLLIS.
