DRESSES AT THE RACES.

On Whit Monday, Steeplechase Day, there was a great crowd at Ellerslie, and some very smart frocks were worn. The day was bitterly cold, but beautifully fine and dry. The President’s wife, Mrs L. D. Nathan, wore a handsome trained brown plaid camel’s hair trimmed with black velvet and braid, brown velvet bonnet with feathers ; Mrs (Col.) Dawson, claret - coloured cashmere, sealskin jacket, sailor hat; Mrs Walker, stylish black silk, lace bonnet with yellow flowers ; Mrs Bloomfield, striking trained and braided brown cloth made in the princess style with a border of velvet, hat cn suite; Mrs Devore, black velvet; Mrs Masefield, handsome black silk ; Mrs Edwards, stylish brown cashmere, sealskin jacket, lace bonnet ; Mrs Scherff, navy dress, and becoming black velvet bonnet trimmed with red velvet; Mrs Hope Lewis, pretty brown plaid dress, brown toque with green feathers ; Mrs Bilborough, grey and black striped gown, black toque ; Mrs Morrin, stylish costume of navy with white silk front, pretty toque with white feathers ; Miss Myra Kemble, fawn and spotted cashmere with pretty sealskin cape, and fawn hat; Miss Davis, navy edged with red fur, grey toque with feathers ; Miss Johnston, striking gown of navy, toque en suite ; Miss Devore was the most stylishly dressed girl on the lawn, wearing a grey cashmere, jacket and toque cn suite ; Miss Percival, black cashmeie, trimmed with claret ; Miss Firth, navy ; her sister, grey ; Miss Wylde Browne, trained brown plaid ; her sister, navy ; Miss Forbes, stylish green cloth ; Miss Dunnett, stylish navy blue, black hat.
