DUNEDIN.

Dear Bee, March 15. My letter this week will be almost w’holly devoted to garden parties, for we have had four ‘ beauties.' The weather has been perfect, and this form of entertainment has been the most enjoyable imaginable. The first of the garden parties was given by Mrs Macneil at Woodhead. The day was glorious, and the grounds were in perfect order and much admired. Between eighty and a hundred were present, amongst whom were Mrs and the Misses Rattray, Mrs and Miss Shand, Mrs R. Neill, Miss Neil, Mrs Ridings. Mrs Stack, Mrs and the Misses Stephenson. Mrs E. C. Reynolds, Mrs Oliver, Mrs Woodhouse, the Misses Reynolds (two), Mrs and Miss Sievwright, Mrs and Miss Grierson, the Misses Greenwood. Cunningham, Reap, Mackerras, Mrs Hugh Macneil, Miss Rayse, Miss Wyatt, Mrs Sinclair Thompson, Misses Roberts (two). Mrs and the Misses Webster. Williams. Stanford, Morris. Dymock. Spence, very pretty dress of crushed strawberry with green frills round bodice and skirt, cream hat; Miss Johnstone, grey tweed dress, large grey hat with feathers and quills to match: Miss Neill, fawn tweed trimmed with brown velvet, cream hat: Miss E. McLaren was in a black skirt and light blouse bodice, sailor hat: Miss Grierson, blue and white print, white hat; Mrs Moore, very handsome green silk dress, turned up sailor hat trimmed with tartan silk; Miss Macneil. black serge skirt, white shirt bodice, black sailor hat: Miss Tottie Stephenson, slate-coloured dress, white hat with feathers: Miss Gould, sage green dress, brown hat with pink roses: Miss Rayse, very pretty cream serge dress and cream hat, Mrs A. Reynolds, fawn tweed, floral bonnet; Miss Tui Stephenson, brown striped tweed, brown hat trimmed with feathers; Miss Reynolds looked well in green : Mrs Leslie Reynolds, white dress and hat; Mrs Maxwell, black dress, and black bonnet with white wings; Miss Driver, grey dress and brown hat; Miss H. Driver, navy blue dress with white braid, hat to match ; Miss Renyan looked very well in a dark green dress with hat to match ; Miss Farquhar, white dress. Urge black hat with feathers; Mrs Hugh Macneil. light green dress with dark spots, large green felt hat with long feather and wing of same colour ; Miss Maeandrew. cream delaine figured with brown, bonnet of red poppies ; Miss Reap, heliotrope delaine, and black hat: Miss M. Williams, navy blue dress and sailor hat: Miss Sievwright, brown dress, and large brown feather hat.

Mrs Cutten gave a large garden party, which was much enjoyed io spite of the strong nor’-wester prevailing in the

afternoon. Among the guests were the Hon. R. and Mrs Oliver, Mrs W. H. Reynolds and the Misses Reynolds, Mrs P. C. Neill, Miss Neill, Mrs Ogston, Mrs and Miss Morris, Mrs Ridings, Mrs and the Misses Spence, Miss Rolands, Mrs and Miss Shand, Mrs Mackerras, Mrs and the Misses Stephenson, Mrs and the Misses Roberts, Mrs and the Misses Dymock, the Misses Rattray, Mrs Joachim, Mrs Moore. Miss Macneil, Mrs and Miss Ulrich, Mrs and Miss Kenyon, Mrs and Miss Sievwright, Mrs and Miss Brent.

Another delightful garden party was given by the Hon. Richard and Mrs Oliver at their residence, Tolcairne, Maori Hill. Their beautiful grounds looked their very best, courts being marked out fur tennis in one part, and aichery, seen for the first time in Dunedin, was going on in another part, and attracted the attention of numbers of the young people. An excellent baud discoursed music in a far corner of the grounds,and the Leidertafel added considerably to the enjoyment of the afternoon by their singing of several partsongs. Somewhere about 150 or 200 guests must have been present.
