‘ What are you doing, John ?’ inquired his wife. ‘ That is the side door.’
‘ Certainly,’ he replied ; ‘ it’s Sunday, isn’t it ? The front door is locked, and—oh—’ suddenly interrupting himself—‘oh ! of course, certainly, what am I thinking about ? I was under the impression—that—that ’
‘Sh ! my dear, this isn’t a hotel,’ said his wife, and then she gently led him into the church.
Lady (engaging servant) • • I think you will suit me admirably. But—ah—have you a sweetheart ? Servant : ‘ No, mum ; bnt I can soon get one !’
