LONDON AND PARIS FASHIONS.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) (SEE FASHION PLATE, PAGE 237.) The gowns which of all others are in request just now in your part of the world are, undoubtedly, tailor-made dresses for yachting, travelling, and boating. A happy combination of original style with excellent quality of material and absolutely perfect workmanship appear in those our artist has sketched elsewhere which will give my readers some notion of the good style for which all the garments made by this firm have been so long and so justly famous. No. 1. is a graceful little dress of heather tweed, which will make an ideal costume for travelling. It is arranged with quite a simple skirt, and a tight fitting coat bodice, made all in one with the vest, the latter being of corduroy velvet, in a peculiar shade of pinkish giey, which harmonises to perfection with the colour of the tweed. No. 2 is a smart gown of pale grey cloth, the skirt being arranged with a very deep hem, headed by a braiding of grey silk cord mixed with silver. The long coat bodice is braided to correspond, and opens over a vest of white cloth, covered with grey and silver braiding, and fastened with small round silver buttons.

No. 3 is a useful driving cape, very smartly cut, ami made in pale fawn cloth. It is a double cape, made also in a double breasted shape, and fastened with large buttons in mother of pearl. The strapped Velvet collar anil strapped seams must be noted as being particularly smart. No. 4 is an extremely stylish gown of navy serge, arranged with a long coat bodice, edged with quite a novel kind of wide flat braid, and made in a combination of gold, silver, and copper thread. The double-breasted waistcoat is of cream cloth, fastened with mother-of-pearl buttons. The skirt has a deep hem, headed with tinsel-braid. No. 5 is a costume equally suitable for fishing, shooting, or mountaineering. it will be useful also for travelling in bad weather. The skirt and the long coat bodice are of brown and white cheek Harris’ tweed, the coat fastening with a single button, over a long vest of tan cape leather. The tabs round the eoat are bound with leather, while the skirt is bordered with a deep leather hem.
