LONDON AND PARIS FASHIONS.

LATEST STYLES IN COWNS.

(SEE FASHION PLATE, PAGE 665.1 Smart and original designs for gowns are always acceptable, aud those sketched at a leading Regent street house illustrate a few charming novelties ot the season. No 1 is a smart little flock of blaek and white striped silk, made with a draped front, and a deep tlounee of white lace all round the back of the skirt. At the side there is a graduated panel, formed of volants of white lace, crossed by loops of narrow black ribbon. The bodice is arranged wrth a vest of white lace, crossed by loops of ribbon to correspond. No. 2 is a charming gown for a young girl, made in delaine, in quite a novel design, with large shaded purple pansies with dark centres, scattered over a pale ereanr ground. On one side of the skirt, there is quite a narrowpanel of pansy-coloured bengaline, and on the other (as shown in tne sketch) a wide panel of the same silk, bordered with a deep baud of beautiful cream guipure. The bodice is made with a vest of silk, bordered with bands of guipure. No. 3 is a beautiful tea gown with a draped front of pale heliotrope silk, ami the sides and train in very much darker heliotrope bengaline. A drapery of dark heliotrope velvet crosses the gown in front, while round the necK there is a turn down frill of chiffon, in pale yellow over heliotrope. The sleeves and collar are of tile dark heliotrope velvet outlined by a silk cord. The full Greek draperies which come from the shoulder are of pale heliotrope crepe de chine. No. 4 is a pretty gown made iu one of lhe new black silk grenadines, with a woven border cousisting of four lines in gold coloured silk. This border is arranged in points on the skirt, the drapery being drawn up iu knots on the hips, and then left in handkerchief folds on either side. The same idea is carried out in the bodice, the handkerchief folds being drawn down into a point in the centre in a very picturesque fashion.
