THE HUNTER ' OTAIO.'

We here present an illustration of the New Zealand hunter * Otaio,’ bred by Mr Thomas Teschmaker, of Otaio, Canterbury, by Talisman out of an Arab mare. His height is seventeen hands, and when carrying a weight of 18 stone in the saddle, has never been known to baulk at anything, not even a barbed-wire fence of five feet. He was bought by Mr Rutherford, of Mr Teschmaker for 30 guineas, and subsequently sold to Mr Wakley, of Melbourne, for 100. Mr Wakley took him to England, and after hunting him for a season, received an offer of 700 guineas for him, which he refused.
