LONDON AND PARIS FASHIONS.

(SEE FASHION-PLATE, PAGE 161.)

It is cold enough now to hug oneself in fur wraps, and the three handsome novelties sketched on page 161 will be useful as guides to the most fashionable styles now worn. No. 1 is a handsome mantle of sealskin made with a coatshaped back and two long ends in front. The high collar and full sleeves are of astrachan, as well as the graduated V-shaped trimming, which ornaments the mantle, both in front and at the back.

No. 2 is an exceedingly smart seal coat made in the very latest fashion. The upper half of each sleeve is of sealskin, left very full from the shoulder to the elbow. The lower half is of astrachan, made quite tight fitting. The front is cut with a vest of sealskin, and is arranged with a high roll collar of astrachan, which can be either left standing or else turned over to form revers, which finally come to a point below the waist. The design is quite novel, and the effect of the coat as a whole is most becoming to the figure. No. 3 is a magnificent seal mantle, reaching from throat to feet, and opening both in front and at the back to reveal a kind of under garment of astrachan. In front the astrachan fits quite tightly to the figure, and moulds the shape of the waist in a most becoming manner. The sealskin is gathered in full folds on the shoulders, from whence it falls in wing-shaped sleeves to the hem of the skirt on either side. At the back the seal is also cut open to reveal a plastron and two long revers of astrachan. Any of these can be copied in seal plush, or tweed to match the dress, trimmed with fur.
