A WEDDING IN THE NURSERY.
The other day it rained. So mamma took her sea ing into the nursery to visit the children. By-and-by she found out that a wedding was going on. Lord Fauntleroy. Ethelwyn's loy-doll, was l>eing married to Beth’s Flossy. Beth married them. Ina deep, hollow voice she began : • Lord Fauntleroy, look here. Are you going to take good care of Flossy, and not never to scold her? tell me that.' ‘ Yessum,’ Ethelwyn answered for him. • And give her all the money she needs, and new clothes, and candy, hey ‘ I’ll try to, but that's a lot of things,' he answeied. • Never you mind, you'd bettrr promise, or you won t ge.t her.’ ‘ Oh, I will,' he answered, promptly.
‘ And will you lie a good girl ?’ turning to F1O"V now, who was leaning limply against a box. • And take good care of things, and not go gadding ’round to plaees. but stay home and mend stockings and fry pertaties ?' (Beth's favourite dish.)
This was not a very pleasant pros|«ct, so Flossy answered very faintly, 'Yes, ma'am.’ • M ell, you better be sure afore it's too late -. and I want you to be cstry good to Flossy, Lord Fauntleroy, for she isn’t very well ami needs a quilt ‘ M'hat ?' said Ethelwyn. ‘ A comfort, then, something nice ami soft, to take care of her. And now. Flossy, you are Mrs Lord Fauntleroy, and Lord Fauntleroy, you ate Flossy, and that's all, only we will go down and ask Bridget for some wedding cake.’ And there was a wild rush for the door, which shut with such a bang that Lord Fauntleroy fell on his nose, and the bride fainted and fell into her I six? And nobody cared !
