NEWS FROM AUCKLAND BRANCH.

Miss M. C. Roberts, who has been Matron of Te Puke Maternity Hospital for the past three years, has been appointed Matron of the Opotiki Hospital. Miss Lowes, upon her retirement from the Matronship of Opotiki Hospital, was tendered a farewell function and presentation by the local people and staff. Miss C. Jordan, an ex-sister of the Auckland Hospital, now resident m Honolulu, is at present visiting Auckland and renewing old friendships. Miss Ruth Hunter has been appointed Sister to the Kaitaia Maternity Hospital. Miss Robson, who resigned from the staff of Kaitaia Hospital, has been appointed Sister at Whakatane Hospital. Miss H. Hunt, who has been District Nurse at Mokai for the past year, has resigned. Miss L. Wood has been appointed District Nurse at Mokai. Miss K. McLeod has been appointed Sister-in-Charge of Dr. Griville's Private Hospital, Dargaville. Misses Wenmoth and Nisbet, who had conducted their private maternity hospital m Opotiki for the last eleven years, have closed down, Miss Wenmoth having gone to England for an unlimited period. These nurses will be greatly missed locally, there being no maternity hospital beds now available to the people nearer than Whakatane Hospital, a distance of forty miles. The local Hospital Board offers a subsidy to a qualified midwife to induce one to settle m the town for private work. Mrs. Hatch, who was at one time district nurse at Matata, Bay of Plenty, has

recently been appointed District Nurse at Katikati, near Tauranga. Misses G. Reid and K. Stewart, who have been sisters on the staff at Apia Hospital, Samoa, have recently returned to New Zealand. Miss D. MacMillan, formerly on the staff of St. Helens Hospital, Christchurch, has been appointed to the staff of St. Helens Hospital, Auckland. Miss Rose Dale has resigned from the Matronship of Taumarunui Maternity Hospital.
